Sudip Chakroborthy
Internationally, the areas of Sudip's interest bring together the interdisciplinary contexts and techniques of Applied Theatre and the Disabled Theatre, with particular reference to the work and methods of Brazilian director, activist and politician Augusto Boal, and British deaf theatre-maker Jenny Sealy. Trained with Tim Prent Ki at the University of Winchester, Syed Jamil Ahmed at the University of Dhaka, Sue Mayo at Goldsmiths, and Alistair Campbell at Queen Mary, he is now collaborating with Jennifer Little (US), Matthew Lyons (England), Rawand M Arqawi (Palestine), Rambabu Regmi (Nepal), Necessary Space (Glasgow), Theatre Cycle and theatrEX Bangladesh. The central aim of these collaborations is to research and co-create community-based inclusive physical and non-verbal performance on themes such as human rights, social justice, inclusiveness to open up dialogue to communities in order to demonstrate that people may have differences but can respect each other and live with equal rights and responsibilities.

Disability and theatre
Sudip had the opportunity to work with Graeae Theatre and Jenny Sealy in 2019 as a dramaturge in a devised production with artists with disability from Bangladesh, Japan and the UK. The project's aim was to perform 'Tempest' at the Tokyo Olympics in 2020. Also, Sudip was the research associate to the Graeae Theatre's research on the current provision and positioning of the British Council around disabled arts practice across the South Asia region in 2019-2020.

Under25Routes
Sudip has worked with Peshkar over recent years and we are really pleased to see his expertise become part of the UK residency workshops.
Sudip passed his vast experience onto our Under25Routes artists in a weekend of workshops at Hope University, Liverpool. You can see more footage of the workshops here and here’s a small interview with Sudip explaining his practice, exchange and his thoughts on Under25Routes.
